MiTek is pleased to announce that the Serpentine Gallery has been listed as a finalist in the Product Innovation category in the Structural Timber Awards (STAs).
Thanks to our project partners Pasquill the Serpentine Gallery 2022 Black Chapel project is a truly remarkable structure, featuring Posi-Joists painted black, to complement the considered aesthetics of the build.
We’re very proud of this project, and it’s brilliant to see it recognised in the STAs. Designed by Theaster Gates, the 2022 Black Chapel Pavillion fused the sanctity of religious space with the great kilns which represent the UK’s industrial heritage.
The partnership between MiTek and Pasquill was a key component in realising the structure, Pasquill took the lead on manufacturing using Posi-Joist products, while MiTek handled the design process.
The use of Posi-Rafter and Posi-Stud were an ideal choice to support the Pavilion’s open, widespan look.
The ST awards reflect the impressive innovation and growth within the industry, bringing together the very best of architectural design and engineering excellence.
Good luck to all the other entrants – you can view all the shortlisted projects here.
Fingers crossed for the awards on the 4th October 2023 at the National Conference Centre (NCC) in Birmingham.
